The short answer
Webflow handles the technical upkeep itself: hosting, SSL, security patches, backups and platform updates. What still needs a person each month is everything around your content: updating pages and CMS items, checking forms and integrations, fixing broken links, and keeping SEO and page speed in shape as the site grows.
That makes Webflow maintenance different from WordPress, where plugin and core updates are a monthly chore. A small Webflow site that rarely changes may need almost nothing. A marketing site that ships new pages every week needs someone watching the details.
What Webflow already handles
Because Webflow is a hosted platform, the server side is included in your site plan. BRIX Templates' guide to Webflow maintenance lists what that covers:
- Hosting, CDN and SSL certificate renewals.
- Automatic backups.
- Security patches, pushed to every site without action from you.
- Platform updates and browser compatibility.
There are no plugins to update and no server to patch. If someone offers to "update your Webflow plugins" each month, ask what they mean.
What still needs doing each month
| Task | How often | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Content and CMS updates | As needed | New pages, posts, team changes, pricing or product updates |
| Forms | Monthly | Submit each form; confirm it reaches the inbox or CRM with the right fields |
| Integrations and embeds | Monthly | Zapier, HubSpot, analytics, chat widgets and scripts still fire |
| Broken links and redirects | Monthly | Old URLs redirect after pages are renamed or removed |
| SEO basics | Monthly | New pages have titles, descriptions and social images; Search Console shows no new errors |
| Page speed | Quarterly | Large images, heavy embeds or new scripts slowing pages down |
| Plan limits | Quarterly | CMS items, pages and bandwidth against your Webflow plan |
| Custom code | When tools change | Scripts that call outside services still work after their updates |
None of this needs a developer every day. It needs someone who knows the site, checks it on a schedule and fixes what they find.
Maintenance vs. new work
Most "maintenance" requests are really small builds: a new landing page, a section for a launch, a CMS collection for case studies. That is where most of a Webflow site's ongoing cost goes, and it's worth deciding up front how that work gets done, not only how the site is kept running.
A pure maintenance plan covers checks and fixes. A Webflow development subscription covers fixes and new work through the same queue, so you don't need two arrangements.
What Webflow maintenance costs
| Option | Typical price | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Do it in-house | Your team's time | Sites that rarely change, with someone comfortable in Webflow |
| Freelance care plan | About $150–$1,200 a month on Contra | Checks and small fixes on a set schedule |
| Agency maintenance retainer | From $750 a month at theCSS Agency | Structured checks with an agency already on the account |
| Development subscription | ManyBuilds Pro, $1,995 a month | Fixes plus new pages and sections, in one queue |
If your site only needs a monthly check, a care plan or your own team is the cheaper choice. A subscription makes sense when new work arrives every week and fixes are only part of it.
Questions people ask
Does Webflow need maintenance?
Much less than WordPress. Webflow handles hosting, security, backups and updates. What needs attention is your content, forms, integrations, links and SEO as the site changes.
How often should a Webflow site be checked?
Monthly for forms, integrations, links and Search Console, and quarterly for page speed and plan limits. Check right away after any big change.
Can a maintenance provider work on a site someone else built?
Usually, yes. Expect a short review first, so they can learn how the site and its CMS are put together.
Fixes and new pages, one queue.
On a ManyBuilds plan, a fix is just another request. Add it to your queue next to the new landing page, and we work through them in your order.
